The Ultimate Wish

What would you do if you were granted three wishes? In Joan Aiken’s short story, The Third Wish, Mr. Peter is granted three wishes. He earns these wishes by helping a swan get untangled from a thorn bush near a river. With these three wishes, he wants to make his life better. He does this by wishing for a wife that’s as beautiful as the forest. Mr. Peters learned that when you do something good, you could get something good in return.
One good thing that happened to Mr. Peter, is that he got a wife named Leita. She has blue green eyes just like the canal, dusky brown hair like the bushes, and skin as white as a swan’s feathers. She’s a quiet and lonely woman because she was once a swan that lived in the river with her sister. Leita’s husband, Mr. Peter, is a caring loving and helpful person. He loves to be around nature since he lives near the river where many different kinds of animals that come by, like swans.
Swans are just some of the animals that represent romance. In nature there are lots of symbols like trees, roses, evergreens, and vines which are just some of the symbols that represent romance. There are also many colors like light blue which can represent the bright blue sky. Gold is a very important color because the king of the forest wears it on his crown.
When Mr. Peter is driving his car through the forest, he hears a faint cry in the distance. He decides to find out where the noise is coming from. As the noise get louder he sees a swan stuck in a thorn bush near a river. As he sets the swan free the king of the forest sees him. He grants him three wishes, for saving the swan. These are just some of the reasons why its mode is romance.
After reading my essay, what would you do with the three wishes now? Even though he was only given three wishes, he spent them very well. When you do something good you could get something good in return.

  1. Kyle, you have many good ideas in this essay! Perhaps you could use a bit more help with organizing your thoughts and your use of transitions.
