War Comes to Willy Freeman
Imagine yourself in a house where you can hear gun shots coming from every direction. Well that’s what happens in the book, “War Comes to Willy Freeman”, by James Lincoln Collier and Christopher Collier. This is a very good book which brings to life what had happened during the war. You could see the black people on both the British and the American sides who were fighting against each other. How do you think they got on one of the two sides? The British government told the black loyalist that if they come over to Nova Scotia they would get a whole new life if they came over to the British side. But it wasn’t what they thought of as a new life because they were still considered a slave and all of the hash things that happened to them brought memories of what it was like back in the thirteen colonies. The British gave a choice on wither or not they wanted to stay loyalist to the British or if they wanted to go to somewhere else in the empire. Many of the people took that advantage of staying loyalist to the British and do go somewhere else in the empire. So now all of those people are free from their masters. This is how the black people joined the British side. The Americans got the black people to come to their side by giving them their freedom after the war by their masters. This is what the black people really wanted, but to get this it was an even harder challenge because they would have to fight in a war and never know if they would come out alive and get their freedom. And the people that joined the British side lost their freedom and then later shipped off to the Caribbean where they could work for the people there. Willy Freeman’s mother said “The British generals figure if they don’t treat us too hard we’ll come onto their side”. She also said “If he lives and gets his soldiers pay, and they don’t get sold off to the West Indies then we can them for free”. These are some of the different reasons why they would want to come and join the American side. Now imagine that you had to pick a side during the war? And if I had to pick a side I would pick the American side because I would be able to get my freedom from my master and get to do whatever I would want to do.

Teenage Bullying
Every day kids are forced to go to school even though they don’t because they get bulled all day. There are many different kinds of bullying like cyber bulling, physical, and verbal this are just some of the types of bullying. To describe bullying, it’s when one kid is picking on another kid. I think that to stop bullying we will have to come together to stop it. Can you think of a time when you saw or were in a bully situation? Bully’s can make other kids feel bad and make them not want to go to school. The reason that people are bulled is because of their appearance and social status. Over 160,000 kids skip out on school so that they can avoid getting bullied. Did you also know that 71% of the bully incidents are reported to parents or teachers? And of those who get bullied bring a gun to school so that they can try to protect themselves from those kids who try to hurt them physically or mentally. Physical and verbal abuse are just some of the different kinds of bullying that my happen at your school. Physical is a type of bullying that makes the victim get hurt or get an injury. This includes if you were to throw something to the ground breaking it. An example of physical bullying is if you were to walk down a street and then someone comes up from behind you a pushes you down to the ground. Over 30.5% of bullying at your school is physical bullying, which means that you need to tell your parents, teachers, and any other parents that you see around. Verbal bullying is another type of bullying, it’s when the bully talks trash to the victim, like calling them names, swearing at them, and making fun of them. For verbal bullying over 46.5% is happening at school. These are just some of the different types of bullying that happens at your school. Violence in school has declined since 1994. You probably don’t because you don’t see what’s happening behind your back, and stuff that’s happening behind your back would be bullying. American schools have about 2.1 million bullies and 2.7 million victims, that’s a lot of kids. To bring it down a little, there’s a school of about 232 kids from kindergarten to 8th grade and of all of the kids they said that they have been a victim of a bully at least once. These are just some more reasons why we need to beware of bullying. It’s really easy to avoid bullying, if you just watch out for yourself and others. Now that you have learned about bullying you can now watch out for others and know what to do when you see bullying going on. Have you every been bullied before?
