Does Patriotism Still Matter Today?
Do you know what patriotism means? Well, it is the love and the dedication that someone has to their country. I think that patriotism still matters in our country today because otherwise if no one will want to join the army and other special forces we won’t have anyone that will help protect our country.
Those people that served in the army and Special Forces are risking their lives and since the US went into war with Iraq, over 4,424 soldiers have died and over 31,951 soldiers have been injured. These are just some of the people that we should respect, because they help protect us and our country. The other people that we should respect are the president and our government that keep the money flowing in our country. Another way to have patriotism is to put your American flag up during Memorial Day and Patriot day. And if the flag touches the ground you should burn it, this is another demonstration of patriotism.
Patriotism is a good thing to have because if you don’t have it you won’t have the right to do a lot of things such as the right to fly the American flag. The word patriotism is a word that comes from the Greek word meaning fatherland. Today most people say that patriotism involves community service. Patriotism also means to be a good citizen. This means that we should be kind to other races and accept different beliefs. We have to thank the people that have founded our country since they laid the foundation for the equality for all.
These are just some of the reasons why I think that patriotism still matters today. Do you think that patriotism still matters? So maybe you should think of what you can do to have patriotism around your neighborhood and even your country.
